Heavenly 25 Birthday Celebration at The Kazimier in Liverpool

Heavenly 25 at The Kazimier

On Sunday July 5th we hosted an all day event with Harvest Sun Promotions at one of our favourite venues in the UK, Liverpool’s Kazimier. As part of our Heavenly 25 celebrations, the event showcased a large number of our current roster split between The Kazimier Gardens and the indoor club.

The day featured a special ‘LEGS’ performance from Stealing Sheep as well as a headline show from The Wytches and sets from King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, The Voyeurs, Hooton Tennis Club, Gwenno, Kid Wave and Duke Garwood. Plus, The Heavenly Jukebox enjoyed playing records in the garden, whilst local legend Bernie Connor spun records in-between bands to a dancing crowd inside the club.

Following the success of our Heavenly 25 event at Hebden Bridge Trades Club in January, we couldn’t resist a summer party, a great excuse to bring you more live music from our current and ever growing roster.

The Line of Best Fit and local Liverpool website Getintothis have captured the day in a series of photographs.

Prior to the event label founder Jeff Barrett spoke to Liverpool magazine Bido Lito about 25 years of the label with illustrations from Hooton Tennis Club’s James Madden.

Liverpool Echo also ran a piece on the label, featuring Barrett’s musical affiliation with the city:

“Heavenly has been in a love affair with Liverpool for a few years now. I dunno what it is exactly, but there’s a DIY spirit and a sense of camaraderie that we find endearing and well, proper.

There’s also a lot of very lovely people around. Stealing Sheep introduced us to a lot of interesting folk but honorary mentions must go to Carl Hunter for his undying passion and sheer give-a-f***ness.

It was Carl that turned us onto Hoon Tennis Club and we love how he’s operating at Edge Hill University. Timo and the Tea Street gang for just being. Bill Ryder-Jones for just being maverick. Tom Harvest Sun for putting on great shows and giving them boss (‘scuse me) posters and the utterly brilliant All We Are — who we truly wish we could call Heavenly artists. We did our best.”

Over all we had a fantastic time in one of our favourite cities. A special thanks to local promotor Tom at Harvest Sun, The Kazimier for being a great venue, our acts who played, Bernie Connor for playing records and everyone who came to make it a memorable occasion.
