As introductions go, Annelotte De Graaf’s welcoming of her new video for “Can’t Say That We Tried” is a suitably thorough effort for a song that is indeed both sad and beautiful. Lifted from Amber Arcades’ new Cannonball EP, which is released at the start of June via Heavenly, the track’s four minutes offer a weighty, burned-out four-minutes, the rough stabs of guitar juxtaposed by De Graaf’s swooning voice which is perhaps as compelling here as it’s ever been.
The glowing, simmering power of the song taking on new shapes and forms in the murky world of the fish tank.”
‘Can’t Say That We Tried’ features on the up and coming ‘Cannonball’ EP to be released on June 2nd. The EP features the BBC 6 Music A-list single ‘It Changes’ and Amber Arcades re-working of Nick Drake’s classic song ‘Which Will.’
Amber Arcades will be back in the UK for our Heavenly Recordings stage at this years Sea Change Festival. Taking place on the August bank holiday weekend (25th/26th) we also have Temples. H.Hawkline & The Orielles playing the festival in Totnes.
