We are delighted to be able to announce that we have signed Amber Arcades, the project of Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf, to Heavenly.
To coincide with this announcement Noisey have premiered a brand new track, ‘Turning Light’, taken from the forthcoming debut LP which we’ll be releasing this coming Spring. Listen below.
The track was written in the early hours of the morning and recorded in New York with producer Ben Greenberg (The Men, Beach Fossils, Destruction Unit) and a backing band including members of Quilt and Real Estate.
“I was heavily jetlagged throughout the album recording process and kept waking up at 5am. One day I went to the studio early and Keven (Lareau, who plays bass on the recordings) was there already too. He was jamming out on this krautrocky bassline and I’d been playing with this melody in my head for a while which happened to fit over it perfectly. We wrote the track in an hour, then when Ben came into the studio we recorded it, also in an hour. I wrote the lyrics the next morning when I was again awake way too early. I think this half awake/half still dreaming energy definitely seeped into this track.”
Amber Arcades will also be doing a number of live shows over the next few months including a few UK dates supporting Nada Surf in April:
